The Fhlostin Paradise, the immense, 2000 foot long pleasure cruiser, was shot as a
motion control model. The model was 8 feet in length, and was shot in the same
manner Digital Domain shot their models for APOLLO 13--for the matte pass, the
model was shot against a bright magenta, UV-painted backdrop, creating a perfect matte.
The water was created as a purely digital element using Arete software.

Within the cruiser, numerous composites were created to expand the the grand ballroom
as well as the opera house. Digital Effects Supervisor Karen Goulekas and a team from
Digital Domain surveyed the London stages; from their data, a 3D model of the set was created.
Using DD's 3D tracking software, the tracking team was able to determine
camera placement. The results are crisp, invisible extensions of the practical sets,
even in shots that contain dynamic camera movements.
